Christmas starts NOW!

You read that right, we said the C word! Yes, we know it’s only August, but Christmas is firmly in our sights now as we barrel into Autumn. For anyone working in the education sector, as soon as that first week in September is over (and a large drink is had), your focus will be on organising Christmas events, and more importantly, Christmas fundraising.

Now, you might have some tried and tested ideas that you’ve done for years and work really well. And that’s great! But if you don’t, or you just fancy changing things up a bit this year, we have a few suggestions for Christmas fundraising ideas that could make your school or nursery the talk of the town. Start now, and you’ll have more success with your fundraising!

Cards and Gifts

Snowman Picture

This is a bit of an easy win, and pretty much every school and nursery in the country will do some form of this. The children create a design, and it’s printed onto Christmas cards to be bought and sent to the family for an extra ‘aww’ factor. It’s something most parents will happily buy from you, especially with younger children, and if organised enough in advance can also be appealing for grandparents and other relatives too.

Now, card fundraisers are ten-a-penny, but you might want to think a little more out of the box… Consider not just Christmas cards, but also gifts made from their artwork too – keep an eye out on our Social Media pages for our exciting new options… all increasing funds for your School or Nursery.

Family Portrait Days

Family Mini Photoshoot Fundraising

Since Christmas is a time to get together, why not organise a family portrait day for your children and parents? This involves opening up your premises and inviting families to come for a personalised festive photo shoot. Parents pay a small booking fee which is refunded against their order, and several of our photographers are in attendance taking photographs for a reduced rate. To maximise fundraising opportunities, you can even open the event up to the community, which can be a great way to raise awareness and generate interest in your nursery or school. The school receives a commission on any prints or products purchased, so it can be a nice little earner and a great community project too.

Christmas Event Photography

Play & Performance Photographs

Christmas plays are always the highlight of the winter season, and parents love coming to see their little ones on the stage. Many even try to capture the moment themselves with cameras or smartphones! Safeguarding alert anyone?

But, hear us out, we don’t photograph the actual performance. There’s already a huge amount of stuff happening on show night – staff are tied up organising children, parents are milling around and trying to find the best seats, and the last thing already nervous children need is a camera shoved in their face. So instead, we come in earlier in the day and photograph the dress rehearsal. Everyone is in their costumes, the performance is in its practice run, but we have a completely clear view of everything going on. We can get individual portraits of the children in their costumes, the cast and the staging all looking amazing. It makes the dress rehearsal more fun for the kids, and means staff don’t have an extra thing to worry about at showtime!

And there’s more!

Yes, we know Summer is only just ending, but we just love Christmas! If you have some ideas for Christmas fundraising you’d like to talk about, or you want to hear more great ideas, we’d love to hear from you. Just get in touch with us today to book your free consultation.
